Podcast Movement 2024 is around the corner, and we're coming to you a day early this week, as tomorrow is Independence Day for our U.S. readers.. and a happy belated Canada Day to those of you in the Great White North.

This week, we celebrate the independence that attendees have while at our annual Podcast Movement event, as well as the independents who will join us from around the world!

Independence at Podcast Movement

With tomorrow being Independence Day in the United States, we thought it would be appropriate to highlight a question we get often, and that we love answering: Who is Podcast Movement for, and is it for me?

If you’ve made it this far, we think the answer is a resounding YES.

Podcast Movement is home to everyone involved with podcasting, be it the creator side, the business side, or somewhere in between. Whether you’re brand new or extremely experienced, our community has a place for you.

We also want to highlight the independence aspect of the conference itself, because at the event, you are free to do what you want, when you want. If you’re a creator but you’re interested in learning more about the business, join us on one of our industry stages, or set up a meeting with a network or advertiser through our event platform. If you work for a brand but have a great idea for a show that you’d like to pitch to your team, we’ve got several stages where you can learn everything from the basics to the expert-level knowledge you’ll need.

We casually call Podcast Movement a “choose your own adventure” style event, and we think it’s an adventure you’ll want to be a part of. Above is a preview of some of the activations and activities taking place this year inside Podcast Movement Central, and you’re invited to join us for it all.

Independents at Podcast Movement

Last week we profiled some of the opportunities for podcast industry professionals at PM24, but this week is all about the creators, with a focus on independent podcasters joining us this August in DC.

At Podcast Movement, we’re independent podcasters ourselves, so we know what it’s like to be alone, whether it’s recording by yourself, writing your own show notes and scripts, or not knowing who to turn to for help. Believe it or not, this is why Podcast Movement came to be.

We created PM so that podcasters could have a place to go, in person and online, to share their successes and struggles, ask questions and help give answers, and ultimately become a better, more successful podcaster. And whatever success looks like for you, we’ve got something that can help this summer.

In fact, this year our first announced keynote session is lead by two independent creators who have been running a collective and studio full-time since 2018!

10 years after Serial, 5 years since Gimlet got acquired, a year since the "Death of Podcasting," people are always trying to tell us what makes a hit podcast.
